Welcome to our library!á
We are looking forward to a great school year. á

Kindergarten students will have 20 minutes of library each week. They will listen to a short story and check out a book.á1st, &á2ndágrade classrooms will have a 40 minute library period each week whereástudents are exposed to a variety of genres and lessons.á 3rd - 5th grade have a 45 minute period.á
Books are checked out for one week and returned or renewed on the student's library day.á It helps us keep the library running efficiently if books are returned on time. Please check the schedule below for your child's library day/time.

Parents are welcome to sign up for a library card. áCome to the library for the application.

Washington Children's Choice Award
The winner of the 2015 WCCPBA is The Day the Crayons Quit, by Drew Daywalt. This happened to be the Valley View favorite as well.

Washington Sasquatch Award
The winner of the 2015 Sasquatch Award is Wonder, by R.J. Palacio

16 students completed a blackout on their Sasquatch Tic-Tac-Toe board and earned a ticket to the Sasquatch pool party. It will be held on Tuesday, June 9th from 3:05-5:30 PM.

Follett Shelf
Students can now check out electronic books to read on their computer or tablet.  Any device with internet connection should be able to open the book online.  To download for offline reading the device must be able to download the Follett Digital Reader.  See link below for more instructions.
How to Check Out an eBook
Tumble Books
Valley View now has an online collection of literature available to students at home. There are picture books, chapter books, non-fiction, & fiction titles available. We hope you will take advantage of this great opportunity.

We now have a daily Tumble Books link. These are often books that are not in the normal Tumble Book collection. Check these out every day by clicking the icon below!

Reading Counts
Students in grades 1-5 are encouraged to take Reading Counts quizzes after they read a book.  Students earn points if they pass the quiz and earn prizes for the points.  We also have monthly goals for each grade.  If a student meets their goal, they receive a pizza coupon at at the beginning of the following month.
